What happens if I miss the FPL deadline?

Your team from the previous gameweek is used as it stands. Transfers, captain changes and chip activations made after the deadline apply to the following gameweek instead. A free transfer is not lost — it rolls over, up to a maximum of five.

How long before kick-off is the FPL deadline?

90 minutes before the first match of the gameweek kicks off, which is why the time moves from week to week rather than being fixed.

What happens if you miss it

Your previous team stands exactly as it was. Anything you change afterwards — transfers, captain, chips — applies to the next gameweek instead. You do not lose the free transfer: it rolls over, up to five banked.

Pre-deadline checklist

Check the injury flags on your starting eleven, confirm your captain is expected to start rather than merely available, make sure your bench order puts the player most likely to play first, and look at whether any of your players are close to a price fall tonight. Chip deadlines worth knowing

Chips follow the same deadline as transfers and cannot be activated once the gameweek has started. In 2026/27 the chips come in two halves: the first set expires after Gameweek 19 and the second set is granted for Gameweek 20 onward, so an unused first-half chip is lost rather than carried over.
